LOLER and PUWER compliant lift inspections

At LLI, we provide LOLER and PUWER compliant inspections for a wide range of lifts and lifting equipment across London. From passenger lifts in high-rise buildings to specialist machinery like forklifts, telescopic handlers, industrial warehouse hoists, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), skip loaders and recovery vehicles, we help dutyholders meet their legal obligations while ensuring the safety and reliability of essential equipment.

What Does a Lift Inspection Involve?

Regular lift inspections are essential for maintaining safety, minimising downtime, and staying compliant with UK legislation such as LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998).

Whether your equipment is used to lift people or goods, it must be thoroughly examined by a competent person at legally defined intervals:

  • Every 6 months for lifts carrying people

  • Every 12 months for lifts carrying goods

  • After any significant changes, repairs, or damage

Work with our experienced team of qualified surveyors, known for their meticulous attention to detail and commitment to providing clear, actionable reports—delivered within 48 hours of inspection. Each LOLER or PUWER lift inspection is tailored to the specific equipment and environment. We work across many industries—including construction, logistics, education, healthcare, and retail—and can operate alongside maintenance teams or independently at dark sites.

Lift Operations & Lift Equipment Regulations (1998)
The main purpose of LOLER is to ensure the safe provision and use of lifting equipment. It applies to both passenger and goods lifts.

PUWER

Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (1998)
It places duties on people and companies who own, operate or have control over work equipment. It also places responsibilities on businesses and organisations whose employees use work equipment, whether owned by them or not.

Arranging a Lift Inspection

Our PUWER and LOLER lift inspections cover every aspect of lift safety and performance:

  • Safety devices and interlocks

  • Suspension ropes and chains

  • Main drive and braking systems

  • Emergency lowering and rescue procedures

  • Guarding, controls, and operator safety features

  • Electrical systems, hydraulics, and overload protection

Digital reports are provided within 48 hours of inspection, with each lift or item of lifting equipment tagged with a QR code for instant compliance tracking. We also securely archive all inspection reports for at least seven years, ensuring full traceability. Our flexible service means we can carry out inspections during the day, at night, or at dark sites—whatever works best for you. Trusted by clients across the construction, logistics, and facilities management sectors, we pride ourselves on being more than just box-tickers—we’re your partners in safety and compliance.
